This is my first time writing a blog, so I will start with the basics and move on from there. I am 28 years old and from Michigan in the United States. I have played in Finland the last two years and two years in the CBA (minor leagues) in the States. I have been married for a little over two years to my wife Katie, who is here in Poland with me… enough of the introduction.
I have been in Poland two months and have really enjoyed somethings but there are also things that are hard to get used to. I like the polish people who are very nice and try as hard as they can to speak english to me.
Being a foreigner we appreciate that very much, because we do not speak any other languages, so that is the only way to communicate with people. The food i n Poland is very good, and I enjoy going out to eat here with my teammate or my wife. Wroclaw is a very nice city with a lot to do. My wife like to shop in this city (that is bad for me) and that keeps her happy. The only thing I do not like about wroclaw is the traffic. Last week my wife and i went to the zoo and it took almost an hour to go 5 KM and sometimes it is just unbelievable.
Many people in Poland ask me what I do in my down time here in Poland. Well, anyone that knows coach Urlep knows we do not have that much time away from basketball. My wife and I do enjoy playing cards and we can watch tv over the internet from back home. Last night I stayed up and watched the world series (it is baseball and that is the name of the ch&ionship series between the final two teams) and it makes you feel like your at home sometimes. Also, I like to read and do sudoku puzzles to pass the time.
A few things about basketball before I sign off for this week. The season is very young but you can tell that it is going to be a very competitive season. There are many good teams and every week I see you have to play your best to be able to win. It is fun being a point guard because almost every team has another american point guard and I enjoy going against the other americans in the country. It will be interesting to see how things play out as the season goes along.
